Power Book IV: Force
Season 2[]
Before Diamond got locked up, he was the young head of Chicago’s most promising crew that was taking over the city. In his short time at the helm, he created a tactical drug running outfit respected by all of Chicago’s crime families. Now that he’s out, Diamond plans on taking the reins back from his crew’s interim leader — his younger brother.
Personality[]
Diamond Sampson's personality is a complex mix of street-level instincts, intellectual depth, and ambition. After serving 15 years in prison, his temperament has evolved from a ruthless leader to a more calculated and strategic one. While incarcerated, Diamond used his time to study classics, history, and philosophy, which he applies to his criminal enterprise. This gives him a more thoughtful and long-term approach to business than his impulsive younger brother, Jenard. He is described as having "truthful eyes" and a calm demeanor, which can be disarming. However, beneath the calm exterior is a competitive and dark side that can be unleashed when challenged. As the former head of the Chicago Brothers Incorporated (CBI), he is determined to reclaim his position and rebuild his drug running operation. He does not let his brother Jenard's 15 years of interim leadership intimidate him. While loyal to his family, Diamond's pragmatism often puts him at odds with Jenard. He quickly forms an alliance with Tommy Egan after seeing the potential for a powerful partnership, even if it upsets his brother. Unlike his brother, who acts with reckless aggression, Diamond is more concerned with restoring the CBI to its former glory and running it as a respected business. He initially views Jenard's wilder tactics as a potential liability. His 15 years in prison changed him. He is not the same hot-headed leader who went in, and his experiences have given him a different perspective on how to run his organization effectively.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
Diamond is first seen in Prison cutting someone's hair. Rojas tells the rest of his crew to let Diamond first get comfortable on the outside, then make the call. Jenard picks him up and Diamond tells his brother that he isn't the same person he was before prison.
Diamond finds out about Tommy saving Jenard and Vic in a warehouse and he sees Tommy in his barbershop the next day. Tommy and Diamond are both kidnapped by two members of Rojas' crew and forced to get them money within three hours. Having just got out of prison, Diamond is cautious of the city being heated with cops. An officer pulls out a gun on him and almost shoots, but Tommy arrives and the tension fades.
Diamond goes with Tommy to a meeting with Vic, Walter and Paulie regarding Tommy's plans for the Chicago drug game. Walter refuses to work with Diamond because of their history, blaming him for an attack on Paulie's wife. Diamond claims that wasn't him and walks out. After Tommy kills Tatiana and Vic kills 2 Serbians, Vic, Tommy and Diamond all agree that they should take out the Serbians to gain a bigger pipeline in Chicago. They bring Jenard, Simon McDougal and Elijah in on it as well. The attack on the Serbians is well executed and Diamond shoots one of them.
Seamus Bennigan approaches Diamond whilst he's jogging and tells him to get in a vehicle. Diamond says that him and Bennigan don't have any history. Bennigan asks if he knows the name Keke Watkins and says that her life will never be the same because of him. Diamond tells him that he has made amends and threatens Bennigan about Vic paying him in exchange for information. Diamond meets a woman named Adrienne at his local diner and immediately bonds with her. The two engage in sexual activity but Adrienne seems to have some kind of agenda. Officer Bennigan later robs the safe in Diamond's barbershop as he is in need of 100K after being blackmailed by Lieutenant Warshawski, and Diamond obliges because he feels bad about what happened to Bennigan's sister and because he is held at gunpoint.
Diamond finds out that Jenard and Blaxton are plotting to kill him because Jenard wants to run CBI. Jenard runs into the barbershop and tries to kill him but he and Adrienne manage to get away. Diamond later kills Blaxton because of this and his body is found by Jenard. He doesn't know what to do about Jenard. He and Jenard have a brief fight but he decides not to kill him, instead they agree that they'll go their separate ways with some CBI soldiers teaming with Diamond and some possibly teaming with Jenard.
Season 2[]
He is alerted that his estranged and abusive father Sid is in Hospice. He reluctantly visits the latter to see it for himself, leading to an argument between them before he passes away.
During Dead Reckoning, a drunken Diamond talks Tommy about how this is who he is before Reeves enters and sees Diamond holding several bags of drugs. Reeves is disappointed by Diamond's relapse and criticizes him for lying to him, preparing to arrest him, before getting distracted by a protesting Tommy. However, an angry Diamond proceeds to use a shaving blade and slit Reeves' throat while refusing to go back to prison. After suffering from his wound for a while, Reeves then falls dead. Diamond's act pleased Tommy.
In No Loose Ends, Diamond and Tommy proceeded to dump Reeves' body, somewhere he couldn't be found. His coworkers questioned Diamond but the latter claims no knowledge and his brother Jenard Sampson gave him an alibi. Diamond was later released from parole, before setting out to kidnap Jamal Franklin for setting Reeves on him before drowning him while criticizing for a piece of garbage who mistreated his son.
