Season 6[]
During Reversal of Fortune, he is called by a friend who tells him that Rashad is slowly hitting rock bottom, drinking his sorrows away in a bar and hitting on the staff. Kamaal finds his brother and brings him back to his house to sleep off his episode. When Rashad wakes up the next day, Kamaal tells his brother to hang in there and states if it doesn't work out, he can be a cop again.
At night, Kamaal heard yelling outside and found his brother being held at gunpoint by an assailant, causing him to shoot the man in the back, killing him instantly. He informs his brother of his presence and asks if he is alright. Afterwards, he and his wife are told by Rashad it was only a random robbery. However, Kamaal is suspicious but takes him to the station to give his story. Kamaal and his brother share words if things go wrong, especially when a topic of an Andre Coleman is made. At the station, the cops congratulate the brothers because of Carter and Croop's history. After leaving, the pair head by Truth where reports of a shooting is made. Rashad was able to slip away, despite the warning of his brother. However, he is stopped when fans appear and he talks with them. The next day, he meets with the political party and after long negotiating is able to get them to endorse him as governor. Later on, Kamaal informed about Andre's death and ruins Ramona's status. Rashad also gets revenge on a previous lover by callously dumping her. He then watches the news and sees the reported shooter of James being caught and is shocked by it.
Power Book II[]
Season 2[]
Kamaal is first seen with Rashad telling him to sort himself out as he's a mess. Rashad manages to get him on the task force of the Jabari Reynolds murder case along with Kevin Whitman. Kamaal and Whitman initially don't get along but eventually form a brief partnership. Whitman believes that Zeke had motive to kill Jabari and that he is guilty, but Kamaal disagrees with this. He looks into a novel by Jabari and thinks that the novel was about Tariq.
He also questions Lauren about drugs being in her room but Kamaal agrees to drop it if she wears a wire. Tariq is caught on tape saying that the novel wasn't about Brayden. He finds Officer Ramirez's badge in Tariq's dorm room, which was planted by Cane, and then arrests Tariq.
Kamaal later tells his brother that a crazy woman keeps calling him about the Reynolds murder case, telling a different story every time. Rashad mentions it in court and Kamaal loses his job because of this. Kamaal is obviously annoyed about the situation, however, after Rashad replaces Rick Sweeney in a higher ranked role, he tries to hire him as his assistant, somewhat making up for his actions in court.
