Lorenzo Yandel Tejada is a supporting character in Power Book II: Ghost, and a tritagonist in its second season. Lorenzo is the late patriarch of the Tejada family and the former head of their drug organization. Lorenzo is portrayed by Berto Colon.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Lorenzo was born in 1972.
At some point in his life, he married Monet Stewart and the two had two sons, Cane and Dru, and a daughter named Diana.
Later, Lorenzo gets arrested and sent to prison for murder and gang affiliation. He was initially incarcerated for 25 years.
Lorenzo first appears when Monet calls him about Lil Guap and other GTG members posting online which could lead the police right to them. Lorenzo orders Monet to send Dru to talk to them instead of Cane. Monet then tells Dru that he should go talk to Lil Guap, thereafter she tells Cane to follow and watch Dru. Only for Cane to shoot up in the air, leading to unwanted attention to them and getting chased by the police and Officer Ramirez covering for them by telling his partner they went in the opposite direction so they can get away. Couple days later, Monet and Lorenzo have sex and he berates her for not following orders and for sending Cane to help Dru, but Monet quickly fires back and they are running this organization together and she is his wife. He advises her to send Diana to school, mentions Cane will be fine playing his role being feared for what he does and Dru the successor as the head of the family explaining why, tells her to trust him. When the GTG gang get the supplies cut and all products goes to Tariq St. Patrick, Lorenzo ask Monet what is Tariq’s weakness in which she responds that he is a weakness. So he calls Tasha and threatens her that if Tariq doesn’t do what he says, They will kill Tariq. After Tariq makes his payment, Lorenzo is pleased and sends a message with a photo of Tariq granting him extra days to live. When he finds out that Cane hit Monet on accident in a heated argument, Cane visits him and Lorenzo tells him to learn the ropes which he can eventually become the head of the family and later has him beaten by the Prison Guards and threatens him never to put hands on his wife. When Lorenzo receives a threatening message from Tasha about Cane trying to kill Tariq, him and Monet banishes Cane out of the family and continue to work with Tariq. After Monet kills Rico, she visits Lorenzo who orders her to get Cane back but becomes suspicious that Monet cheating on him with Ramirez as she tells him that she needs Ramirez to clean up their mess but he says he will find him but unknown to them, Cane killed Ramirez.
On their 22nd anniversary of their marriage, Lorenzo is happy however Monet is slowly losing feelings for him as she expresses that she needs more and tells him that Cane killed Ramirez and has a plug. Lorenzo orders her to get Cane back into the family with the new plug. Weeks later, he is shocked but happy to receive a visit from Diana and the two work together with Cooper Saxe and Davis Maclean to help him be released due to misconduct. When Zeke gets arrested for murder, Monet asks Lorenzo for them to put up the house to pay Davis and to help Zeke, but Lorenzo doesn’t care and tells her no. After seeing her upset, he tells her to use the money from the bar. He tells Saxe about things and secretly gets released from prison. When Monet arrives home, she is shocked to see Lorenzo with his family, who is happy to see her, and tells her everything is going to go back to how it was before his arrest. He throws a party with his family and friends and tells everyone that Diana is loyal than all of them and thanks her for her help. Lorenzo sees Zeke enter with his friends and tells him that they need to leave until Monet interrupts him and says that is her nephew. He later has Kino search Zeke and his friends and let’s them in. Lorenzo, Cane and Dru are at the bar the next day where Dru tells him about the time he got shot and Lorenzo sympathizes with him and tells him to be strong and asks Cane to leave and introduce them to the plug and Cane says he will. Lorenzo finds out that Tariq has been arrested for Jabari and Ramirez’s murder and berates Monet for letting Cane frame Tariq which could put eyes on them. At the family meeting, Lorenzo tells the family that Tariq got arrested for double homicide and they will not working at Stansfield no more and gives everyone their roles and enrolls Diana at St Joseph University. Lorenzo and Dru meets up with Cane and Mecca who begins working with them and ask Monet later that day if she is still working with Tariq after he got bailed and she lies to him that she isn’t, so they have sex. Lorenzo, Dru and Carlito kills Kino and his girlfriend and later work with the BSK gang. After Mecca warehouse is robbed, they are at the table where secrets are exposed and Lorenzo finds out that Monet cheated on him and is revealed that she is the mother of Zeke so Lorenzo kicks out Monet. Lorenzo has an emotional breakdown and smashes up his bedroom and begins drinking and calls Cane who tells him that GTG robbed them so he orders Cane to come home but tells him he can’t since he is held hostage by Mecca and finds out that Monet, Dru and Tariq robbed Mecca. So he orders Dru and Diana to steal the drugs from Tariq and Brayden. Dru and Diana both go up to Stansfield to steal Tariq’s drugs and gives them back to Lorenzo, who gives them to his gang to sell. Lorenzo and Monet later meet up only to find out they were being set up by Mecca, so Monet comes up with a plan to kill Mecca. Monet tells him he's not the one to kill Mecca, she will as Mecca won’t see it coming from her. He agrees giving roles to Diana and Dru. Lorenzo is at the meeting with McVey and other men until they find out it’s a set up. Lorenzo kills McVey and Tariq and Cane kills the other men. Tariq and Lorenzo finally meet each other. Tariq calls out Lorenzo for stealing his drugs while Lorenzo says it’s payback for taking Diana’s virginity.
Season 1[]

Tariq calls out Lorenzo for stealing his drugs while Lorenzo says it’s payback for taking Diana’s virginity. Lorenzo arrives home to find Diana and she tells him that Monet was planning on running way with Mecca and that he has passports and bank accounts with the kids and Zeke. Lorenzo is angry and tells her that he will be back. Lorenzo is at the hanger and spots Zeke but he thinks it’s Mecca and shoots him several times in the back, killing him. Lorenzo arrives back home, satisfied about killing Mecca and the family returns too and watch the news of Mecca's death only to realize that he killed Zeke as Mecca was killed in his apartment. He is feeling guilty for Zeke’s murder and is terrified Monet will find out. She is committed to finding Zeke's killer.
Season 3[]
Lorenzo confesses to Monet that he killed Zeke, admitting it was an accident while trying to kill Mecca. This confession drives much of the season's drama, as Lorenzo attempts to make amends by being a better father and family leader. His attempts at redemption are cut short when he is killed by Gordo, who was sent by Monet to seek revenge for his father's death. Which Monet has now framed him for. Monet ordered Cane to kill Frank Castillo, Lorenzo's brother, after they believed him to be a snitch. However, in season three's fifth episode, she tells Frank's wife, Evelyn, that Lorenzo is the one who murdered her husband, hoping that her revelation will urge Evelyn to go after Lorenzo. Monet then has a heart-to-heart with Frank's son, Gordo, later in the episode as they both grieve the loss of their loved ones. During their conversation, he mentions that, if he had the chance, he'd "slit the throat of the motherf*cker" who killed his father. From there, Monet concocts a plan to take Lorenzo out and informs Gordo that her husband killed his father, though this happens off screen. Despite Lorenzo's confession to Monet, her ploy is already in motion, and by the end of the episode, Gordo ends up killing Lorenzo — slitting his throat and leaving him to die on the street right in front of the mural painted in Zeke's honor. Gordo then texts Monet, "Done. Thank you."

- He is one a few characters in the Power Universe to kill a member of their family.
- He killed his stepson and Monet's biological son, Zeke.
- Tariq compared The Tejada's to chess pieces, and he described Lorenzo as the King.[1]
- It was revealed in Season 3 that Lorenzo played Baseball and was about to go to college but decided to stay in Queens and become a Kingpin. Furthermore, he was one of the few characters in the Power Universe that had potential to get out the game due to their talents, others being Dru Tejada, Kanan Stark and James St. Patrick.
- Lorenzo's death was setup by Monet for Revenge, Which is foreshadowed in Ghost's title sequence, that depicts a Queen chess piece standing over a fallen King.
