Reversal of Fortune is the fourteenth episode of the sixth season and the 62nd overall episode of Power.
Synopsis[]
Tensions run high when Tate tasks Dre to kill Ghost. Tate's hatred toward St. Patrick motivates him to lie during a Federal questioning. The Feds are in striking distance of convicting St. Patrick for Silver's murder.
Plot[]
Rashad talks with his nephew about his grades, stating he needs to do better. He goes outside to take out the trash, before he is approached by Carter who says he was waiting for him. Carter blames Tate for everything, stating he never said St. Patrick was running with Tommy and how he and his father ran into a trap. Rashad brings up how he canceled the hit and how they were insistent. Using his pistol, Carter strikes Rashad when he mentions his father again and holds him at gunpoint. Carter wants to get even by promising to take Rashad inside the home and make him watch the slaughter of his family. However, Carter is unnerved when Tate stands defiant to protect his family. This distraction allows Rashad's brother Kamaal to shoot him in the back, killing him instantly. Surprised, Rashad questions how he knew there was trouble and Kamaal states he heard yelling.
Inside, Rashad covers up the death by calling it a robbery. Kamaal and his wife are worried because they assumed that their neighborhood was safe.
On the way to the station, Kamaal voices his suspicions on his brother who tries to shrug it off. Once there, the cops congratulate the brothers because of Carter and Croop's history. After leaving, the pair head by Truth where reports of a shooting are made. Rashad was able to slip away, despite the warning of his brother.
As he makes his way to Truth, he is stopped when the news crew recognize him and talks with him. Rashad tries to leave but they ask him what his thoughts are on the murder of James St. Patrick and if the democratic party will reach out to him. He is shocked but gives his perspective about someone from struggle can make a success of themselves. The news crew are amazed before Rashad is approached by his brother who inquires on how he comes up with all those words from the top of his head.
The next day, the Tate family meets with the political party and after long negotiating is able to get them to endorse him as governor. Later on, he is informed about Andre's death and ruins Ramona's status.
At his hotel, Rashad is confronted by Ramona but is able to insult her and tells her that she is done in politics. He also gets revenge on a previous lover by callously dumping her. He then watches the news and sees the reported shooter of James being caught and is shocked by it.
