Tariq James St. Patrick is one of the main protagonists of the Power universe, serving as one of the tritagonists/final antagonists in Power, the main protagonist of Power Book II: Ghost and one of the unseen overarching antagonists alongside ( Tasha St. Patrick) of Power Book IV: Force. He is the son of Tasha St. Patrick and James "Ghost" St. Patrick.
He is a major protagonist in Power, serving as a central character in season 1-2, one of the main protagonists in season 3-4, anti-hero in season 5 and one of the final antagonists (alongside Tasha St. Patrick ) of season 6. He is one of the main antagonists of Ghost’s storyline and a minor antagonist of Tommy’s storyline.
He serves as the main protagonist of Power Book II: Ghost.
He appeared in a flashback in season 1 of Power Book IV: Force.
Character Development[]
In Season 1-2, Tariq started out as a smart kid who loved his family and had a brotherly bond with Shawn. however he went under character change in season 3 after his father left their family for Angela, He begins to resent his father and was devastated to learn about Shawn's death. He was groomed by Kanan, Jukebox, Ray Ray and Dre (although Dre tried everything he could to keep Tariq away from Kanan). After that, he killed Ray Ray for killing Raina and witness Kanan kill Jukebox. He began to resent his father even more as he becomes disrespectful and causes the death of Kanan. After Ghost tried to turn Tariq in, Tariq kills him. As the spin off begun, Tariq was forced to grow up to look after his family, get his mother out of jail, graduate from university and drug dealings as well as keeping law enforcement away from him. Season 2 of Ghost, he showed a vulnerable side when he began a relationship with Lauren and being a care giver for Yasmine. After Lauren’s death and Yasmine going to live with Tasha permanently, he develops a more ruthless side as he vows to find out what happened and who killed Lauren as well as being pushed into legitimacy as he is brought in as a intern in Wall Street in hopes of escaping this drug life.

Season 1[]
Tariq is living a perfect life at home with his family. He plays basketball at school while being coached by Shawn Stark who also is a chauffeur for Ghost. He looks up to Shawn as an older brother.
Season 2[]
When James is locked out of the penthouse because Tasha had changed the passcode due to his affair with Angela Valdes, James is forced to contact Tariq to be able to reach his house. Tariq is still on good terms with his father and even pays him a visit at his hotel to watch the basketball game in which he is punished for by his mother.
Season 3[]
Tariq lives with his mother and father and becomes a main character and one of the protagonists in season 3. He mixes with his father's former mentor and drug boss Kanan Stark as a plan to get back at Ghost as his relationship with his father starts to strain mainly because of Angela.
Kanan plans to kill Tariq when he takes him to Breeze's old apartment (who Ghost killed in the past) but then spares Tariq after the latter voices his resentment at his father. Kanan uses another plan with Tariq by helping him rob his rich classmates and getting some of the money.
Kanan later tests him with his cousin LaVerne Ganner and corrupt police officer Ray Ray. They try to break him but Tariq doesn't give in which allows him to pass and he is accepted.
Jukebox then tells Kanan to use Tariq as ransom to get money and has Tariq drugged and sends Tasha a ransom demand by text.
Season 4[]
Tariq continues to take on the role as a protagonist.
When Kanan learns that James has been arrested, he and Jukebox let Tariq go. After coming home Tariq tells Tasha that he and Slim pulled a prank on her and that he is fine. Tasha then tells Tariq if he sees a man named Kanan, to tell her and Tommy. Later at a party with Kanan, Jukebox, and Ray Ray, Tariq meets Ray Ray's cousin Destiny and has a one night stand with her.
When James is released from prison. Jukebox then tells Kanan that they can now get their money by kidnapping Tariq again. When Tariq goes to see Kanan, Jukebox is there, and when Tariq tries to leave she hits him with the butt of her gun. James and Kanan arrive to an abandoned house and see Jukebox hold Tariq at gunpoint. Realizing that she has been played by Ghost and Kanan. Jukebox then tells Tariq that Kanan has been playing him, as his name is not Slim, and threatens to kill Tariq if Kanan does not tell him the truth. Tariq listens as Kanan comes clean and tells him who he really is and that he killed his own son Shawn, to Tariq's shock. Before Jukebox can kill Tariq, Kanan kills her.
Afterwards, Tariq leaves with his father and they don't talk the whole ride home, since both are in shock at what occurred. Tariq then links up with Brains and Big Country for another robbery. However, it goes wrong when Tariq stops Big Country from almost raping a woman and the woman could identify his name. Then Tariq runs away from the two, after they kill the woman and he goes to see his father at home.
While going to the school dance Tariq goes outside to meet Destiny, but ended up seeing Ray Ray. Tariq then runs away from him, once the latter tries to kill him and hides, unaware that Raina followed him. That is when he witnesses Ray Ray kill Raina when she confronted him about his identity. Tariq approached her body, calling her name in horror.
When Tasha and James receive the news of Raina's death Tariq lies to them about what really happened that night. While his relatives are there at the penthouse, Tariq then goes to James' office and steals Tasha's gun. Tariq then visits Dre and demanded for him to tell him where Ray Ray is. At first Dre refuses to tell him, but Tariq threatens Dre by promising to tell Ghost and Tommy that he knew that Kanan was alive this entire time and that he did not tell them.
Afterwards Tariq then goes to Ray Ray's apartment and confront him about killing Raina. Ray Ray mocks him for having the courage unlike his sister, as he reaches for his gun to shoot Tariq but ended up killed by him. James, Tommy, and Tasha arrive at Ray Ray's apartment and sees Tariq holding Tasha gun with blood on it, and a dead Ray Ray lying in a pool of blood. They all get rid of evidence that would implicate Tariq. While at home, Tariq tells Tasha that he is not sorry about what he did and Tasha agrees.
Season 5[]
He transitions into an anti-hero as he starts to become rebellious and his hate for his father surfaces.
After killing Ray Ray, Dre call Tariq who hangs up on him, when questioning Ray Ray. The next day Tasha and Ghost questions Tariq about Ray Ray killing Raina, and why didn't Raina tell Tasha that Tariq was in danger. That is when James revealed to Tasha that Kanan told him about Tariq robbing people. Then Tariq revealed that Dre knew that Kanan was alive and that he had to threaten him by gunpoint to tell him where Ray Ray was staying. An angered James lashes out at Tariq and blames him for Raina's death.
At Raina's funeral Tariq overhears Tommy and Ghost planning to killing Dre, and leaves to warn Dre about his father and uncle killing him. After getting accepted to Choate, Tariq reveals to Tasha that he witnessed Raina getting killed by Ray Ray and apologies and Tasha consoles her son. Later after getting into a fight with his father, Tariq leaves and is picked up by Kanan. In the middle of Season 5 Tariq and Kanan bonded over his hatred for James and learning about the drug game.
When Tariq returns home he is greeted by Tasha and Angela. Tasha reveals that Angela knows about Ray Ray and that she is helping him. That is when Tasha tells Tariq that they are going to frame Kanan for Ray Ray's murder. Tariq is angry and lashes out at Tasha for working with Angela who broke their family apart. Tasha then tells Tariq it is either her or Kanan, and Tariq picks Kanan. James later talks to Tariq about framing Dre for Ray Ray's murder. Tariq thinks that he wants to frame Kanan again, but James tells him he would not frame Kanan, and that he would frame Dre instead. After James leaves, Tasha talks to Tariq again to be on board with their plan.
After robbing a boy, Tariq asked Kanan why he killed Shawn. Kanan says that he was disappointed by Shawn and that he wished that Shawn was like Tariq. Later that night Tariq and Kanan are pulled over by the police. One officer asked Kanan to open his trunk, Kanan then tells Tariq that he is not going back to jail. The police men then finds Tasha's gun. Revealing that Tariq was in on Tasha and Angela's plan. Tariq then lies to the cops that he was being held against his will. Afterward when Tarq is being placed in the back of a police car, Kanan then starts to shoot and kill four police officers.
Kanan then smiles at Tariq while killing a police officer, then is killed when he was shot twice and bleed out while driving away. Tariq is picked up for questioning and lies that Kanan killed Ray Ray. Later on in season 5 Tariq wants to become a drug dealer and starts to sell drugs at his school. Also Tariq asks Vincent Ragni to be his distributor and tells him he has what it takes.
Season 6[]
He takes on a role as one of the main antagonists and anti-hero.
Tariq continues to sell drugs at Choate with the help of his roommate Brayden, and falls for a girl named Effie. When Tariq runs out of the drugs that Kanan gave him he starts to steal Tommy's drug supplies and starts to sell them to Vincent, who warns him about screwing with his business. Tommy learns that Tariq is selling drugs, and tells him that this is not for him.
However Tariq is expelled from Choate when someone gave an anonymous tip on him selling drugs and where he hides it. Before leaving Tariq realized that it was Effie who gave him up. Tasha and James confront Tariq, who get into it with Ghost about being a drug dealer. Later Tommy calls Tariq who is mad at him for lying about getting more product, and getting expelled. Tommy tells Tariq to turn off the security alarms and to leave the back door unlocked. Tariq then sees Joe Proctors daughter Elisa Marie in Raina's room crying about the loss of her mother. Tariq then gets him and Elisa Marie out the house to get her hot chocolate.
Elisa Marie then gets a call from her father who tells her that he is not coming with her and to go to her uncles house. Tariq takes her to see her uncle, who thanks him for bring her to his house. Tariq is about to leave when Vincent and Nicola pulls up and demanded him to get in the car, because of Tariq messing up with his business. However it was revealed that Tariq fakes his kidnapping in order to get two million dollars from his father and Tommy.
He fakes the kidnapping so that he can split the money with Vincent, and pay him back. However Tariq does not know that Vincent plans to keep all the money and kill him, Tommy, and Ghost. When the cops wanted to talk to Tariq about Proctor's death, Tasha convinces Vincent to let Tariq go so can answer to the cops. Afterwards Vincent takes Tariq back with him, and later is reunited with Ghost and Tommy. Vincent then decides to kill all three of them until Benny (Proctor's cousin) pulls up with his crew and orders Vincent not to shoot them because Tariq saved his niece. Benny promises Vincent that he will go to war with him if he tries to kill Tommy, Ghost, and Tariq. Vincent leaves with his money, and James takes Tariq home.
Tariq is then awaken by a gun being pointed to his face by Ghost. Ghost confronts Tariq about helping Tommy kill Proctor, and using the back door with Elisa Marie. Tariq tells James that Tommy told him that he was going to tell him if he was going to kill him, and that he owes him. Ghost expresses disappointment with Tariq not picking sides and selling drugs. Tariq at first feels not threatened by Ghost, however, Ghost promises him that if he ever betrays him again he will make his death look like a suicide. Ghost later takes Tariq to the penthouse, and makes Tariq give him his money from selling drugs. Tariq later tries to talk to Tommy, but Lakeisha is there and confronts him about stealing drugs from Tommy.
Tariq lies to Lakeisha, but inadvertently confesses that he stole Tommy's drugs when he revealed where Tommy keeps his drugs at in Brooklyn. With the help of Tasha and Ghost, Tariq is accepted into another school. Tariq tells James that Lakeisha knows that he stole from Tommy, and is worried about her telling him. James tells Tariq that he will make sure that Lakeisha is not an issue. Tariq later meets up with Dre about wanting to still sell drugs. Tariq threatens Dre he will tell Tommy where he is, and reminds him that Tommy still wants to kill him. Dre agrees to help Tariq to move weight. Later Tariq and Tommy talk and Tommy confronts him about stealing from him. Tariq tries to lie to him, but Tommy tells him that he knows that it was him when he knew about the address when he gave Tommy a ride. Also when James was trying to kill Tommy. Tariq finally tells Tommy the truth, because he was low on drugs to sell to Vincent. Tommy scares Tariq when he almost pushes Tariq off a building. Tommy tells Tariq that he is just like Ghost, and that Ghost was right about him using him and stealing from him. Tommy declares to Tariq that he is no longer his uncle, and cannot trust him.
Tariq and Tasha talk at her apartment. Tasha tells Tariq that she will help him sell drugs in exchange he continues to go to school. Tasha expresses that she lost one child, but will not lose another. Tasha tells Tariq that he can be better than Ghost, and has what it takes. Tasha tells Tariq to tell her everything that he is hiding from Ghost. Tariq comes clean about faking his kidnapping to get two million dollars for Vincent, and was suppose to get a cut. Tasha warns Tariq to not lie to her ever again, if he wants her help into schooling him about the drug game.
On his way to save James, Tommy tries to get Tariq to help him but he refuses because Ghost brought this on himself. To prevent Tommy from saving Ghost, Tariq notifies Vincent and his gang of Tommy's location. While contemplating his thoughts, Tariq is accosted by a vision of Kanan who encourages him to take out Ghost himself. Tariq then confronts his father, armed with a gun. Ghost is not fazed, telling his son he loves but Tariq angrily states his reason for this was because Ghost ruined their family for Angela and states he wishes they could go back before stating that's impossible. After briefly hesitating, Tariq pulls the trigger, just as Tasha arrives at Truth. Tariq watches as James falls from the balcony before his frantic mother confronted her son before saying she would take the wrap but he says Dre was coming to do it and they both separated. After his mother left, Tariq looked down to see Tommy (who survived the mob attack) cradling Ghost before being shocked to see that the shooter is Tariq. Horrified his god uncle is aware of his acts, Tariq panics when Tommy aims a gun at the latter but the dying Ghost tells him not to do it and Tariq runs off. Tariq runs through the hall, catching sight of Cooper Saxe before watching him from hiding. Tariq sneaks past Saxe and Blanca and makes his way into the crowd where he pretends to be worried about his father.
Tariq and his mother are brought in for questioning, with him going through with framing Dre and threatening Saxe about seeing him at the club should he doubt him. That night, his mother comes home from dinner with Simon Stern and she reveals that not only has he got Tariq a place at a college but gave Tasha a job while also revealing Dre died. Tariq tells Tasha that he has a plan and goes to bed after assuring her.
After breakfast with his mother, Tariq is told by Tasha to get ready for college but the feds arrived led by Blanca. She revealed that Tasha's former lover Quinton gave Tasha up after providing an alibi and Tasha is arrested for the crime of the murder that she didn't commit. Tariq is shocked his mother went behind by his back to save him. As she is taken away, she tells her pleading son to live his life and go to school.
Tariq gets his GED and enrolls in college. He is last seen arriving at college, where he prepares for a new start.
Power Book II: Ghost[]
Season 1[]
Tariq begins his time in Stansfield, attending court with his mother before he has his first meeting with the Dean. He ends up late, so the Dean impresses upon Tariq that unless Ezekiel Cross does well, under Tariq's tutelage, Tariq himself won't be allowed to attend Stansfield. He meets a girl, Lauren, who convinces him to join the Canonical Studies program at Stansfield in order to graduate earlier. Although it will require a verbal entrance exam, Tariq is determined to make the attempt.
Later, Tariq is contacted by Tameika Washington, informing him that his mother fired her as her defense attorney. Tameika recommends Davis Maclean as a replacement, so Tariq seeks Maclean out — however, Maclean will only take the case for $500,000. At his grandmother's house, Tariq searches through old contacts so he can sell product to make the initial $50,000. His mother calls and admonishes him to focus on school instead, but he lies and goes through with it anyway. He contacts Cinnamon to deal for him, and Effie to supply him with product for free, due to her guilt.
The next day, he wakes up after having fallen asleep, halfway finished his book for the oral exam. He arrives late and admits that he didn't even read it all, but is given a second chance. He later returns to his dorm, only to find Ezekiel having sex with Tanisha. Afterward Ezekiel brings Tariq to meet his family, where Tariq sees even more sex and then violence, before returning home, stopping by to give Cinnamon his product to sell. Tariq then finishes his book, gets advice on it from Lauren while having coffee, and speaks with Cooper Saxe about his inability to get his mother off suspicion of murder. He admonishes Tariq that if his mother tells the truth, he can fix everything.
Tariq then uses Ezekiel's Instagram to lie about Maclean being his lawyer, forcing Maclean to start the case with a $50,000 down payment, acquired from selling product. He gives his oral exam, and is accepted into canonical studies, and after this, meets with Maclean. Tariq gives Maclean a message for his mother, that if she loves him she should tell the truth. At court, Tariq prepares for his mother to expose him, but rather than doing so, she lies once again and blames Tommy for the murder. Tariq watches helplessly as she is charged under the Continuing Criminal Enterprise Kingpin Statute, the sentence: the needle.
After 2-Bit is released from prison he visits Tariq at Stansfield and says that Ghost owed him money before he was killed and now Tariq owes him. Tariq says he needs until the end of the week, but 2-Bit tells him that he wants $24,000 by the next day or he will kill him. Tariq is at a basketball game and leaves to give 2-Bit his money. However, a GTG member named Barz chases him to the Swimming pool and tries to kill him. Tariq struggles to stop Barz from killing him and 2-Bit intervenes smacking Barz with a pole. He then drags Barz to the pool, drowning and thus killing him. Tariq gives 2-Bit the money he owed but 2-Bit demands more for saving Tariq's life. The two then leave the scene.
Tariq is later summoned by Saxe to appear in court to testify against his mother. Tariq has Tameika soon becomes his defense lawyer with the latter asking the former if he had killed his father in which he admits to for Ghost being the monster, not him. In court, Tariq calls out Maclean and Saxe for their illicit activities and for Saxe following him to his father's grave when his niece planted a tracking app on his phone and spiked his drink without referencing her. Due to this, Saxe is forced to resign, and his mother is able to leave prison while framing Tommy for the murder of ghost which causes a new problem of Tommy deciding to go after Tasha for revenge. Tariq attempts to talk to Tommy in order to spare his mom with the latter refusing after mentioning not only him being framed for Ghost's murder as well but the death of Lakeisha. Tariq helps Tommy orchestrate his death while fleeing the FBI when he steals his mother's BMW to chase Tasha. He meets up with Jabari to collect money in exchange for lettting him write about the book about Tariq’s life. Jabari asks Tariq if Dru killed Barz until Cane shows up out of nowhere and shoots Jabari and threatens Tariq. Tariq and Cane then come up with the plan to kill Jabari if Cane doesn’t kill Tariq. Cane gives Tariq the gun tells him that Ramirez’s body is gone and walks away and watches on when Tariq kills Jabari with Cane impressed.
Later that night, Tariq talks on the phone to Tommy and both exchanges goodbye to each other until Tariq believes that Tommy will still go after Tasha so he calls the FBI about another problem for Tasha. He meets with his mother in the cemetery while Tommy is secretly preparing to kill Tasha, but what he doesn't know is that Tariq has fooled him which Tasha is being put into protective custody. Tommy emerges and is enraged Tariq lied to him while attempting to threaten Tariq but he is saved by Monet who wants to kill him in revenge for killing Owl. However, Tariq begs Monet to spare Tommy, with Tommy promising that he won't stop coming after Tasha in the end but Tommy does voice approval of Tariq having a new crew and being like his father in thinking ahead while Tariq states the next time they meet it will be different. Instead, Tommy vows to never see Tariq again and leaves New York.
Season 2[]
Tariq wakes up after he has a nightmare of killing Ghost and Jabari. He helps Yasmine when she accidentally burns breakfast she was making for Estelle and Tariq suspects that she has been drinking as she didn’t remember Tariq coming back home. He calls Davis Maclean to help him find Tasha and he meets up with Brayden as he agrees to come with him to meet his family. Tariq returns to Canonical Studies and lies to Caridad Milgram as she wonders where Jabari is, unknown that Tariq was the one who killed him. Tariq meets up with Brayden and his family and he impresses them. Back at Stansfield, Tariq and Brayden are walking and talking about how they don’t want to be like their father until they see everyone including them getting a notification about Jabari’s death. Brayden is shocked and Tariq lies by pretending to act shocked. Brayden comforts a girl and Tariq returns to his room where he hopes that Tasha is alright. Lauren knocks on the door and is upset to learn about Jabari’s murder. She asks Tariq why he isn’t upset and he tells her that Ghost, Raina, Lakeisha, Shawn and Kanan’s death, Tasha going into Witsec and Tommy leaving New York for good affected him that he doesn’t have it in him to be upset about Jabari. She wants to know how he is feeling and they kiss until his phone is interrupted by Cane’s message and Lauren leaves. Tariq meets up with Cane and tells him everything is under control and goes to the Tejada's house. He goes to Monet house where he lies to the Tejada's about being involved in Jabari’s death. Monet threatens to kill him if he is lying to her. Tariq laters gets drug and him and Brayden begin selling drugs again. He meets up with Brayden and his family again where they go hunting for deers where they shoot one. Tariq has flashback of killing Ghost and Jabari so Brayden kills the deer and Tariq leaves. Tariq returns back to his room at Stansfield and he switches on his Burner phone hoping Tasha will call. A random number calls and Tariq answers hoping that it is Tasha but he hears that it is Kevin Whitman from the NYPD so Tariq hangs up the phone and destroys it but he is too late as Kevin figures out it was at Stansfield as the phone was tracked. He tried to frame Carrie for the murder by placing his burner phone in her draw but couldn't go through with it after over hearing her conversation with Rashard Tate that Tariq is a good kid and has been through a lot. This made Tariq not to frame her. The police finds Jabari's book which makes them believe that Tariq is the drug dealer who killed Jabari along with Brayden. They have Lauren wear a wire to get Tariq to confess that Brayden is the kingpin. Although Tariq tells her that the book wasn't about Brayden, he accidentally drops himself into it as he admits to her that he knew about Jabari's book which causes the police to search his room and find Officer Danilo Ramirez's badge in his room which was planted by Cane. After Tariq successfully gets Yasmin out of foster care and gains custody of her, he returns to Stansfield finding police officers and students. As he is walking up to Brayden, he sees him with the cops and signals Tariq to run but Tariq is too late as Kamaal Tate and the officers arrest Tariq for both murders of Jabari and Danilo. He is visited by his trust fund lawyer who gives him Ghost letter to him that he made before his death and he reads it with Ghost posthumously mocking him for being arrested.
The following day, Tariq wakes up in his cell until he’s taken into court with Saxe and Davis as he is granted no bail. He tells them that he is being framed for this but Saxe doesn’t believe him and adds pressure to Tariq until Davis tells him to back off. With the help of Rashad Tate, he is granted bail however he is giving curfew and put on tag in which he isn’t allowed to go anywhere other than Stansfield, the house he is renting with Lauren and Davis office. He returns to campus where he confronts Brayden for working with cane behind his back and is suspicious that Brayden helped set him up but Brayden tells him he didn’t set him up but thinks Cane was the one who did it. Tariq kicks Brayden off the course correct work. Tariq meets up with Lauren and questions her on why she wasn’t there. She tells him that she is confused and people would judge both of them for the crimes and that Carrie said that they have evidence against him. Tariq is disappointed with that she would care about anyone judging them and that Carrie is only doing this to clear her and Zeke’s name as them two were in a sexual relationship. He tells her that they should talk about it in her room but she doesn’t want to which surprises Tariq. Tariq gives her an ultimatum about being with him or against him, but she doesn’t respond so he breaks up with her and returns to his room. As he is reading Ghost's letter, Effie arrives as he confesses to killing Jabari but not Ramirez and she understands and they have sex. Tariq makes up with Brayden and tells him to keep an close eye on Cane and tells him to get his family photo album which shows Sweeney and Brayden’s dad roofing when they were in the University and he does. Effie meets up with Monet and tells her Tariq is on the phone. When Monet picks up, Tariq questions her if she helped Cane set him up but she denies it but he doesn’t believe her and tells her that since he can’t leave the area, he orders Effie to take care of the reups and pick ups for him and Brayden will handle coursecorrect. Back at home, Brayden, Tariq and Effie form a plan to take down the Tejada's. After Brayden leaves, Tariq tells Effie he knows he needs to kill Cane but doesn’t want to take that route since if he kills Cane, he will lose either way so Effie will play closely to Cane and Tariq burns Ghost letter.
The next day, he meets up with Cooper and Davis and they show a CCTV footage of Ramirez getting shot and they believe it wasn’t Tariq and Tariq was with Paula on the night of the murder. He denies murdering Ramirez but refuses to name Cane as the killer. He returns to his room where he looks at the photo album with one of them being Brayden’s father and Sweeney dressing up as OJ and Nicole and tells Rashad this but warns him not to mentioned the Westons. He arrives for class where everyone is shocked to see him including Carrie where Tariq finds out that Lauren’s room was raided and arrested. He questions her but Lauren refuses to speak to him as he broke up with her. He meets up with Davis and Saxe and wonders if Lauren being caught with drugs has anything to do with his charges. Davis doubts it but Saxe ask Tariq to show him what Lauren looks like. Once Tariq shows him and Saxe recognises her, he tells Tariq to stay away from Lauren and he agrees. He tells Tamieka that he did not kill Ramirez but was forced to kill Jabari. He refuses to testify and begs them not to put Yasmin on the stand. After Carrie is exposed for sleeping with Zeke and Jabari, Lauren apologies to Tariq for not supporting him but he tells her to stay away from him, then Diana arrives. Diana and Tariq talk about her family issue and the two kiss. Tariq later meets up with Cane and is told that there will be no more products coming in but wonders how he is gonna pay Davis as his trial will happen the next day and Cane tells him to think about it as he is the smart one. The following day, Tariq is at trial and Jenny is selling the jury that he is a double killer who had an advantage of being successful and he finds out about the tapes. He returns to his room and tells Effie and Brayden that the trial will still go on and they need the Tejada's to earn money. Tariq, Brayden and Effie meet up with Cane and Monet about robbing Mecca and framing the GTGs to do it. He arrives at Davis where he finds out the that Lauren was wearing a wire all this time that got him arrested and lost custody over Yasmine so he goes to confront her and is stopped by Saxe who tells him that Carrie manipulated Lauren to do it. Tariq shocked about this returns to Stansfield and notice that Lauren is not in class and is suspicious when Carrie gets a call from Jenny that Tariq knows about the tapes so he leaves and breaks into Lauren’s room. Carrie goes to visit Lauren's room for her safety only to see Tariq and confronts her for manipulating Lauren into betraying him. He knows how Carrie feels about him and tells her to make it right by taking Lauren place on the stand and tells her that Lauren is safe with him but not with the people in charge. Tariq arrives in court where he plays Carrie by having Davis outing her secret as a sex addict and ruins her life. After successfully getting money from the robbery and paying Davis, he returns to his room where he talks to Effie about how he misses Lauren and loves her until Effie manipulates Tariq into thinking that she wasn’t the one. Tariq questions Effie about not being attached but Effie has other ideas.
The following day, he calls Lauren but to no avail and he starts to worry until Effie wakes up and reassured him that she will be fine. Tariq has his case dismissed when Brayden lies about being the course correct leader and drug dealer and thanks him for his loyalty. He is able to get his sister back but is distraught when he discovers that Lauren is dead and suspects that Brayden and Cane killed her. He tells Effie that everything is his fault and that Yasmine is better off without him as he doesn’t want her to end up like Raina so he has her stay with Tasha under a fake name. Tariq tells Monet that Mecca is a snitch so she plans to kill him. In the car, Tariq suspicious of Cane threatens to kill him if he had something to do with Lauren death and told him to stay away from Effie. Lorenzo, Tariq and Cane kill Mecca’s men and Tariq confronts Lorenzo for stealing his drugs. He later gets the bag from Diana and goes upstairs to see Mecca with a gun only to find him dead and Monet tells him that she saved him as he was going to kill him. They get rid of the security however Tariq's image is still shown and Blanca discovers this. Tariq starts his relationship with Effie and Brayden is dropped out of Stansfield.
Season 3[]
Three months after Season 2, Tariq and Effie are packing up their belongings to move into another room until they are interrupted by a Becca and Mrs Weston. Mrs Weston berates Tariq for getting Brayden expelled but Becca tells her to stop. Tariq meets up with the Deen where he tells him they he has been unassigned from campus and Rashad threatens the deen to rehouse Tariq with Tariq owing Rashad a favour. Tariq and a Brayden meets up with Cane at Meccas penthouse where they are confronted by Noma and her crew and orders them to sell drugs otherwise she will kill them. Tariq gives his speech at Zeke’s memorial and comforts Monet as he promises to find Zeke’s killer while Lorenzo watches on. He meets up with Bash who threatens to snitch on him. Tariq strikes up a deal with him until bash disrespects him and Ghost which causes Tariq is stab him in a fit of rage killing him. Cane and Brayden walks in and helps Tariq dispose of Bash’s body. They all later meet up with Obi about their new product and will be killed if they fail to sail.
He gets a message from a unknown person to meet him outside Stansfield University. He goes outside to find Lauren still very much alive where he discovers that Effie and Brayden tried to kill her and Lauren tells him about Blanca and Jenny's Rico case against him. He beats Brayden up and finds out that cane was behind this. He confronts Effie and reveals that he killed Ray Ray and Ghost as they betrayed him. He breaks up with Effie and confronts Cane. He visits Raina’s grave as he is comforted by his Grandma who tells him he will end up dead like Ghost if he doesn’t get out. He later sleeps with Diana after she breaks up with Salim. He teams up with Brayden but doesn’t trust him.
He calls Lauren where she tells him that she doesn’t trust him due to him being a monster. He begs her to help him but she tells him to bring her proof that he didn’t try to kill her. He goes to see Effie about getting a picture of noma and berates her for going behind his back after trying to kill Lauren. Unknown to Effie, Tariq secretly records their chat and meets up with Lauren to show her proof that he wasn’t involved. Lauren believes Tariq and tells him that there’s a Rico Case against him and the Tejada's as well as telling him that Saxe is an informant for Jenny.
Tariq and Monet hatched a plan to lure the feds away from them by having Effie move fake drugs which the feds were disappointed from. After this he finds out about Effie and Cane sleeping together. After Saxe calls Tariq then if he dies he won’t be able to see Tasha and Yasmin again. A Davis tells Tariq that he told Theo that Saxe was a snitch and betrayed them. Both of them rush towards them to save Saxe and stop theo from killing him but to no avail. After Theo kills Saxe, he kills himself leaving Tariq shocked and Davis devastated. Tariq finds saxe’s letter in Davis office and is confronted by cane who accuses him of setting up Effie to which he denies. Tariq and cane fight until Davis stops them and tells him that he has to be effie’s lawyer. Tariq tells Brayden about the Rico case and finds out Weston holdings is a Ponzi scheme to which Tariq loses his trust funds. Lucas threatens to snitch on both of them, seeing no other way, Tariq orders Brayden to kill Lucas and Brayden finds out Tariq killed ghost.
Tariq covers for Brayden when he kills Lucas and is confronted by 2-bit who gives him Tasha’s location. As he races to Tasha’s location, he sees Yasmin until they both see Tommy arrive and kills police officers. Tariq confronts Tommy and finds out monet( actually Diana) gave him the location and Tariq is about to shoot him until he is knocked out by Tasha. He wakes up in a hospital and is comforted by tamieka and finds out Tasha is missing. Brayden meets him and tells him to give him the gun as he says he’s going to kill Tommy and Monet. Tariq, Cane, Dru and Brayden meet at the warehouse and finds out Monet betrayed them and becomes their leader which angers Tariq. Monet calls Tariq outside and threatens to kill him if he doesn’t stop Effie or Lauren from testifying. He is about to kill Monet until obi stops him, thanking him for helping his family get green cards. Tariq follows Monet to kill her until Tommy stops him and tells him that he made amends with Tasha and tells him to either be in the game or out before leaving.
He meets Effie in a prison visit and tells him he will get her out and will need info on noma daughter and later meets up with Lauren with cane and Brayden who threatens to kill her parents if she testifies. Lauren realising who Tariq really is tells him to stay away from him. Effie is released and gives info on noma daughter and wants to get back with Tariq. Tariq cannot forgive her for betraying him and trying to get Lauren killed. Brayden tells Tariq that he’s out the game which leaves Tariq alone. Diana visits him and tells him to kill Monet for what she done to which he reluctantly agrees when he finds out tasha is alive. Unknown to Tariq, Dru and Diana set him up to kill Monet and then be killed by cane.
Tariq goes to kill Monet with Diana in the car until a mysterious figure appears and shoots at them, putting Monet in a coma. That mysterious figure is revealed to be Tasha who wants revenge. Tariq meets up with Tasha who tells her that he lost all of ghost money and has to become a full time gangster to get out the game. Tariq meets up with Noma and obi who tells them he wants to work with them and elevate but unknown to him, the tejadas beat him to it and is betrayed by everyone with cane about to kill him until Brayden saves him and almost kills cane and everyone. They both escape the warehouse and says they have to form a new crew as they started a war.
Power Book IV: Force[]
Season 1[]
Tariq appeared in a flashback of the first episode.
He is the unseen overarching antagonist of Power Book IV: Force as he killed Ghost and betrayed Tommy and made him leave New York. It was Tariq’s betrayal that led him not to trust everyone in Chicago. Despite not having his name is mentioned, he is mentioned indirectly when Jenny Sullivan tells Medina about the case she lost against Tariq.

- LaVerne “Jukebox” Thomas: Shot three times in the chest by Kanan Stark. Kanan killed Jukebox in order to save Tariq after he was kidnapped by her.
- Carol: Indirectly caused. Tariq shouted out Brains' name to tell him to stop Big Country from raping Carol, who they were robbing. Brains shot her in the head after Tariq mentioned his name.
- Raina St. Patrick: Indirectly caused. Because Tariq was a witness to a robbery, Ray Ray made a move to kill him. While Ray Ray was chasing Tariq, Raina confronted Ray Ray and was shot in the chest.
- Uriel Diaz: Was attacked by Ghost and Tommy as they believed at first the Jimenez were responsible for killing Raina as Tariq didn't tell them that it was Ray Ray who was behind killing Raina. Ghost and Tommy tortured Uriel until he admitted he killed Julio based on Dre's orders angering Ghost to the point he shot Uriel.
- Marco: Shot in the chest by Andre Coleman. Tariq texted Andre telling him he was in danger.
- Carmine: Shot in the abdomen by Andre Coleman. Bled out several hours later. Tariq texted Andre telling him he was in danger.
- Four NYPD Officers: All shot in the head by Kanan Stark. Tariq framed Kanan for murder and Kanan resisted arrest.
- Kanan Stark: Tariq was in on Tasha and Angela's plan to frame Kanan for Ray Ray's murder. However Kanan was killed by the police after killing four of them. Tariq knew Kanan would resist arrest.
- Joe Proctor: Shot to death by Tommy Egan. Tariq left the service door for the apartment open and turned off the alarms allowing Tommy to enter undetected.
- LaKeisha Grant: Tasha killed LaKeisha after finding out she was talking to feds and signed the snitch papers and with Keisha dead, Tariq avoided conviction for Ray Ray's murder.
- Four of Vincent Ragni's assassins and Nicola: All shot to death by Tommy Egan. Tariq contacted Vincent to tell him where Tommy is to impede him for saving Ghost. However, Tommy easily overpowered them and killed them all.
- Vincent Ragni: Pistol-whipped to death by Tommy Egan. Tariq contacted Vincent and told him where to find Tommy causing him and his allies to try to ambush Tommy but they all failed.
Power Book II: Ghost[]
- Frank Tejada: Shot to death by Cane as Tariq told him that Frank was a snitch.
- D.C. Joe: Helped Dru dispose of the body after being killed by Monet.
- Barz: Drowned by 2-Bit after he tried to kill Tariq and Tariq helped dispose of the body.
- Danilo Ramirez: Shot to death by Cane. Tariq later uses Ramirez's gun to frame him for Jabari's murder.

- Tariq is the only main protagonist in the power universe to kill another main protagonist. He killed Ghost (the protagonist of Power) and indirectly killed Kanan (the protagonist of Raising Kanan).
- Tariq is the only main protagonist of the Power Universe to not get the first kill in his spin-off.
- Unlike Ghost, Tariq actually confessed to committing a murder. He told Tameka that he killed Ghost and Jabari.
- He has similar traits to his father: Both were betrayed by the women they loved when they were framed for murders they didn't committed, however Tariq killed Jabari but not Danilo. Both of them lost the women they loved, Ghost Lost Angela and Tariq lost Lauren.
- In chronologically, he is the third protagonist of the universe but in terms of release, he is the second protagonist.
- He was likeable from season 1-3 but became hated after getting Raina and Kanan killed and killing Ghost. As of Power Book II: Ghost, he started to become likeable again but some fans hasn’t forgiven him for Ghost’s murder.
- Although Tariq blames his father and Angela for his family falling, though he himself has a part in that.

- Tariq is one of the only five characters to kill someone in both the show and spin-off, the others being Tommy, Kanan, 2-Bit and Liliana.
- Tariq is one of the few characters to appear in more than one spin off, the others being Kanan Stark and Tommy Egan. Tariq appeared in Power as a main character, the protagonist of Power Book II: Ghost and in a flashback in Power Book IV: Force.
